1. Don’t Ruffle Any Feathers, It’s Against the Law 

In Honolulu, even the birds have legal protection. Seriously, it’s actually illegal to “annoy” them. You’ll often spot them chilling in public parks, completely unbothered and legally untouchable.

According to tradition, anyone who removes a lava rock risks being cursed with misfortune, a warning known as Pele’s Curse. Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes, is said to watch over her domain, closely and curse those who take what belongs to the land. 5. Hang Loose in the Home of the Shaka 

The iconic hand gesture known as the shaka is believed to have originated in Oahu. Many credit its start with Hamana Kalili, a plantation worker who lost three middle fingers in an accident. His unique wave became a  symbol of goodwill and was widely adopted by surfers and locals alike.
